Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Purpose:

Verify the machine is working properly and that the finished product is being packaged correctly.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform a quality check on finished product appearance.

Daily inspection of the machine to make sure it is working properly, and no parts are missing or broken.

Monitor equipment throughout the day to ensure machine is operating properly and there are malfunctions.

Communicate with maintenance if there is an immediate problem, otherwise complete a maintenance request form with the Production Manager.

Verify that the correct product label and code date is on the container. Immediately discard any extra labels.

If count is short double check new labels for correct product and code date.

Ensure that the membrane seal is intact on each container and performing a test to make sure that the seal is being applied correctly.

Verify that the heat seal temperature is correct.

Document all information for each salad packed on the Machine Operator Checklist daily.

Competencies:

Ability to read, write, comprehend English.

Ability to understand the operation of the machine and identify machine problems.

Ability to problem solve issues.

Must be a detailed oriented and accurate person to give proper attention to labels, dates, and membrane seal.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

This position works in a cold climate at about 34 to 38 degrees.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

The noise level can be moderate or loud according to different machines. Use PPE when necessary.

This position works around moving equipment.

Must be able to reach, stretch, push, pull, kneel, bend, use arms, hands, and ability to walk during daily   routine.

Employee may stand for long periods of time.
